3Factor Innovation was formed in 2013 by Shaun Cunningham, an experienced electronic engineering innovator and strategist with 37 years experience in the field of scientific research and in industry. In this timeframe he has focused on complex electronic subsystem design and commercialisation.

Shaun founded two semiconductor-related start-up companies and has experience in the role of startup company CEO / CTO and Director. His experience includes preparation of detailed investment proposals and engagement with investors in the international Venture Capital community. In 2004 he raised a seed stage investment of $6 million to fund epiTactix Pty Ltd, a CSIRO spin-off company formed to commercialise semiconductor innovations he developed at CSIRO.

 

Shaun’s expertise spans the roles of project manager, technical mentor and innovator. He has a constructive leadership style with strong interpersonal and presentation skills and naturally builds positive relationships with customers and stakeholders. He has considerable experience in the identification and development of broad intellectual property portfolios and has filed over 40 patent applications as inventor.

Shaun’s technical experience extends across many diverse fields of research and product development including advanced semiconductor device and fabrication process design, RF subsystems, optical components, digital telecommunication technologies, video compression systems and general analog and digital circuits and systems. He is able to draw upon the breadth of his experience to diversify into new technical fields quickly and is able to provide lateral perspectives which address difficult project challenges.

His overall philosophy is “innovation is: 1% creativity, 9% experience and 90% tenacity”.
